From the desk of press secretary Ayeisha Haswarey:
Dear parents,
Before beginning, I’d like to thank all of our wonderful volunteers who come in every day, every event, every week, and even you monthly helpers! Our school could’ve never been as fabulous as it is without you. And I’d like to give a special shoutout to those parent volunteers who may not be seeing this school from a helping point of view after their fifth graders are shipped off to middle school. Thanks again for all your support over the years!

Math
This week in math, our class has been working on finding and approximating the volume of regular and irregular 3d polygons. To do this, we multiplied the length, width, and height and got the volume, cubed. And remember, guys. Khan Academy and IXL are two great websites for your daily math practice!
Reading
This week in reading we started a new read aloud book called Touching Spirit Bear. We practiced noticing character traits in each character and taking think notes in our own way.
PYP
This week in PYP we focused on Stereotypes and putting labels on people. We watched two video clips of a boys life and a girls life and how they felt about there body image and what they did to try and change it.
Writing:
This week in writing we have been focusing on debating and arguing about our opinions on either sides of topics. We have been going through the process of caucusing with our groups and arguing with an opponent. Today yesterday we have been showing Mr. Basham our opinion writing skills by writing an on demand opinion piece.
Specials next week: P.E., Technology, Library, Music, Rhythms
