From the desk of the Press Secretary: Ayeisha Haswarey
Hello, parents!
This week has been full of thoughts, ideas, fun, and lots of laughter!
MATH
This week in math, we have begun our unit on problem solving, and completed our Friday assessment on it!
WRITING
This week in writing, we have nearly met our goal on completing and typing up our articles on Google Docs! Soon we will be moving on to formatting with sleek new Macbook Airs!
READING
This week in reading, we have finally been able to focus on our Read To Self books! Students, remember to bring home your reading journals and take Think Notes during your at-home reading!
INQUIRY
This week in inquiry, we have kicked off the new unit, How The World Works with a classic picture sort!
Our "How the World Works" unit is all about science inquiry and engineering and design. Speaking of science, here is a cool link to some fun science songs by They Might Be Giants.
Next week we will be continuing to examine the scientific process, applying our knowledge to change different variables and design our own mini experiments. We will also be revising our feature articles and starting to format them and add pictures. In math, our focus will shift from adding and subtracting fractions to multiplying and dividing.
Specials next week: P.E., Technology, Library, Music, Rhythms
Reminders:
Below are some pictures of our Art Lit lesson today on Van Gogh
