Hello, parents, and happy late Martin Luther King Jr. Day! This week has been full of change and improvement, as well as tests, assessments, and lots of laughter and fun!
MATH
This week in math, we have been working on developing our skills in adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators and converting fractions overall. We also took the Easy CBM assessment and breezed through it!
WRITING
This week in writing, we have been focusing on creating different types of intros for our informative pieces using mentor texts. Another goal we have is to finish up our drafts and moving on to typing them on Google Docs and editing them even further!
READING & INQUIRY
This week in reading and inquiry, we’ve had our last lit circle meeting, in which we reflected back on the whole book and shared our last notes! We’ve also began to take our schema from the lit circle books and from the videos we watched and took notes on to create our final Where We Are In Place And Time assessment pieces. Our assignment was to create some type of journal entry from the viewpoint of either a pre-existing historical character or our own fictional character, and each piece of writing is wonderful!
Next week we will be jumping into our new PYP unit, "How the World Works", a science inquiry and engineering and design unit. We will also continue our work on our feature articles, getting them typed up and making revisions on the computer.
Specials next week: Technology, Library, Music, Rhythms
Reminders:
Have a great weekend!
