As our press secretary was absent today, this is from the desk of Mr. Taft's press secretary:
Dear Parents, Hope you all had a wonderful Break! Children have been working hard on getting back in the daily routine.
This week in math we have been working on equivalent fractions and adding and subtracting fractions. Children have gotten deep into learning fractions and we even had a number story contest to go into our Friday quiz. We are proud to say that Adithi M. (Nicolas from Mr. Basham's class) from our class won the contest. Overall we have had a great week in math.
In writing we have worked hard on choosing our topic for our Feature Articles and really narrowing down our topics to specifics, as well as doing a little bit of research to make our topic the best it could be.
In Social Studies we got into our second Literacy Circle groups and had our first meeting today. Children might be coming home with quite a bit of reading because of this. We have also been adding on to our timeline from when the “NEW WORLD” was discovered up to the present day when Mr. Taft's (Mr. Basham's) class signed our classroom constitution.
REMINDERS: Kids have been forgetting to wear sneakers on P.E and Rhythm days. Just for a reminder. Don't forget to wear sneakers on PE days and all Fridays!
Next week we will be continuing our Literature Circles for "Where We Are In Place & Time" (students should be reading and taking notes over the weekend), continuing to develop our feature articles about a topic we are knowledgeable about, adding and subtracting mixed number and fractions with unlike denominators, and taking a trip to Cedar Park to boot.
Specials next week: Library, P.E., Music, Technology, Rhythms
Reminders:
