Our press secretary was MIA today, so here is the update from Mr. Taft's...
From the desk of the Press Secretary: Olivia Nillson
This week our students have been very dedicated to exhibition research and finishing our 18 page math test. We have been working very hard!
Math
This week we have not been doing our daily math lessons every day. From now on, our math time will not be full lessons every day because exhibition is taking up a lot of class time. But don't worry, kids are still going to be doing math. We have just finished taking an 18 page math test to see what our students have learned and what we need to work on. Based on the results of our math test, we will be reviewing the learning targets we haven't yet fully accomplished.
Reading
This week we have been working on tracking character traits, noting down our thinking and recognizing the theme of our literature circle groups.
Writing
In Writing, we have been working on organizing our exhibition research in to a boxes and bullets format to help us with our opinion writing that is about our exhibition topics. We have continually been revising and editing our plan to help us be prepared when we start writing.
Science and Social Studies/Exhibition
This week we have been RESEARCHING RESEARCHING and more RESEARCHING!!! Our groups have been working on finding the answers to all of our questions in exhibition. We have been using a flow chart that is posted up on the bulletin board outside the classroom. We first generated our schema about our topic. Then, we brainstormed questions we had about that schema. We have been trying to answer our questions and that is our new learning. We are about to wrap up the researching process of exhibition. We have also been recording our plans for each day on the whiteboard in class called the Matrix. Every day, we decide the skills attitudes and attributes we are going to use, the tools we use for researching, what each person is going to be doing and our inquiry questions.
SPECIALS: PE, Technology, Library, Music, Rhythms
Reminders:
