From the Desk of the Press Secretary: Lilly Newsom
Hello! This week during math, our class has begun a new unit in which we divide numbers into fractions. In writing, we are now researching a more specific topic within the Revolutionary War. We are also finishing up our read aloud My Brother Sam is Dead which is about a boy named Tim who lives during the war. We have started a new Inquiry unit, How the World Works. Our Central Idea is, scientists use their knowledge to draw conclusions and solve problems.
A note from Mr. Basham:
Today was our Valentine's Day party, complete with cookie decorating and a revolutionary war-themed game.
This week we started a new math unit which will focus mainly on multiplying fractions with some other concepts thrown in to the mix here and there. We also have been doing science experiments for our "How the World Works" unit. These make for great dinner table conversations!
In writing, students are "zooming in" on one section of their informative writing drafts to focus on in more detail for their next draft. These pieces are focused on a choice event or person from the revolutionary war time period that we have become experts on in the last 2 months.
Below are some pictures of our party and some other events from the last few weeks.
Reminders:
Have a fantastic long weekend!
