We couldn’t have asked for better weather for our first day at Westwind Outdoor School! After crossing by ferry into camp, we got a crash course on all things Outdoor School from the staff. We learned who our counselors would be, grabbed our luggage (this when some students regretted packing that kitchen sink!), and moved into our cabins. A picnic lunch as a cabin, then off to our first field study: Beach! The tides were just right for some tide pool action, so we got to see some really cool creatures, dig for mole crabs, and weather some rocks! Tomorrow we will be studying down at the estuary. Stay tuned for another update after that.
