From The Desk of the Press Secretary Lilly Newsom:
This week during math we have been working especially hard on word problems. In writing we are typing and revising our second Revolutionary War pieces. In reading, we search for metaphors, hyperboles, and alliterations. Large portions of our afternoons and mornings have been spent doing science labs. Our first lab was a testing and recording lab, where we mixed different powders such as citric acid in water, pH Indicator Solution, vinegar, and Iodine. Our second lab we worked to separate mixtures of gravel/water, powder/water, and salt/ water. We only managed to separate gravel/ water and clean the powder/water. We learned that while gravel/water is a mixture salt/water and powder/water are solutions. Our third lab was spent figuring the mass of 50 ml of water, of salt and 50 ml of water solution, and the mass of the salt we put in the water. Our fourth lab was figuring out what certain mystery powders were by using the notes we took on lab one.We have had several new additions to the class library, a variety of new books that students are already checking out. We had to add an entire new shelf! We are also staring employ of the week which will select one person from the class who has worked extra hard on his or her job (s). We had a field trip to Cedar Park so we could learn things such as how to work lockers. It's been a busy week, but we’ve managed to get a lot done. We can’t wait to work on Monday!
Reminders:
Have a great weekend!
