Today was all about the elements. It was a chilly morning with a tail wind that helped push us up a gradual slope, but after our first test stop, that quickly changed to a head wind that blew right in our face as we climbed a steeper grade for over ten miles. With all the sweat from the climb, and temperatures in the 50s, I was feeling very cold. My legs were aching and glad for the ten mile descent into Baker City.
The highlight of the ride today was joining a pace line (a line of cyclists) on the way down into Baker City and catching a much needed draft (a break from the blowing wind). When I reached Baker City, there was a 16 mile option ride that went up to the historical Oregon Trail interpretive center. The steep climb at the end was worth it. Remember all that learning about migration in 4th grade? Lots of great stuff about that here in Baker City.

We ended the day with an awesome "Bike Rodeo", where all the fantastic bike mechanics rode their bikes in front of the main stage and did different tricks and competed in different events.
