From the desk of Press Secretary Nitham S. and Lilli J.:
Math: I can add and subtract decimals to the hundredths. We also multiplied a bit during class. We mostly used place value charts to show how it worked. students understood the concept of adding subtracting
Writing: I can visualize my story before I write it in order to make it as descriptive as possible . This week we continued writing personal narrative. We really focused on describing what happened.
Reading: This week the learning target was : I can stop and notice signposts in my text.
We started reading the book Home of the brave By Katherine Applegate . Kek, an African refugee, is confronted by many strange things at the Minneapolis home of his aunt and cousin as well as in his fifth-grade classroom. He longs for his missing mother but finds comfort in the company of a cow and her owner.
PYP: This week our learning target was: I can make connections to the lines of inquiry based on my experiences at outdoor school. We learned about the different food chains and how it works. We did a group activity about the food chain
Celebration: October 22nd was Diwali! Diwali is perhaps the most well-known of the Hindu festivals.
The word Diwali means 'rows of lighted lamps'. Diwali is known as the 'festival of lights' because houses, shops and public places are decorated with small earthenware oil lamps called diyas
Specials next week: Spanish/Technology; P.E./Music; Spanish/Library;
